December 20, 2020 | Gary Jackson

Passage: Matthew 2:1-12

  1. They were Drawn

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him., and are come to worship him.

  1. General Revelation we have seen his star in the east

Romans 1:20 (KJV) 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are    clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Romans 3:10-11 (KJV) 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There   is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

  1. Guiding Revelation

Matthew 2:2 (KJV) 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

  1. Will of God

2 Peter 3:9-12 (KJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men                            count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should                                              perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will                           come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great              noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works                         that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be                          dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and                           godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein                                  the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with                                 fervent heat?

  1. Word of God
  2. Balaam’s prophecy in Numbers 24 ?
  3. Daniel’s prophecy in Daniel?

Romans 10:17 (KJV) 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word                          of God.

COVID-19: The importance of science in an era of distrust and disinformation

Greetings. I am Dr. Patrice Harris, president of the American Medical Association.

The coronavirus pandemic presents a challenge the world has not faced–on this scale–for generations.

It’s often said that extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, and we are witnessing every day the heroic efforts of physicians, nurses, medical workers, public health professionals, and the public to manage the enormity of COVID-19 in our communities.

But extraordinary times often call for the most basic of responses – for physicians this means the routine collection of facts and evidence, and examination of research that has been foundational in medicine since its origins.

We live in a time when misinformation, falsehoods and outright lies spread like viruses online, through social media and even–at times–in the media-at-large. We have witnessed a concerning shift over the last several decades where policy decisions seem to be driven by ideology and politics instead of facts and evidence.

The result is a growing mistrust in American institutions … in science … and in the counsel of leading experts whose lives are dedicated to the pursuit of evidence and reason.

In these challenging times, I am addressing the nation to make an appeal for science in defeating this disease … to explain why physicians and scientists rely on facts and evidence in carrying out our duties … and to remind the public of its responsibility to help turn the tide against COVID-19.

I am not against science:

“One misconception is the supposition that all knowledge, if it’s not scientific, is not knowledge.” – Ken Boa

Bible is proof of the value of science

  1. Nature is well-ordered “laws of nature guide science”!

  1. Nature bears the marks of a designer

Psalms 139:13-17 (KJV) 13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in      my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:

marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was       not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts   of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book          all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there   was none of them. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!

  1. Atheism did not bring the “age of science” science existed long before evolution

Historians date science back to Aristotle in the 6th Century Bible shows it Started in                       Genesis 1

Science is progressive – ever changing The Word of God is settled in heaven

Science once said the World was flat but now confirms it is round!

Psalms 119:89-91 (KJV) 89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it   abideth. 91 They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy            servants.

Science stumbles at the basic KEY to science:

“The Scriptures emphasize the Who of creation more than the how.” – Ken Boa

III. They were Devoted

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

  1. Brought Gifts that would - Honor HIM – what can we bring?

                        1.. Gold His Royalty

                        2.. Frankincense Divinity

  1.  Myrrh Suffering

  1. We Bring Him 3 GIFTS

  1. LIFE – TRUST HIM AS YOUR SAVIOR

  1. LOVE – OBEY HIM

  1. LIBERTY – YEILD TO HID WILL
