May 09, 2021 | Gary Jackson

Passage: Exodus 20:12

Exodus 20:12 (KJV) 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Today we need to PROTECT the position and value of MOTHERHOOD.

Laws today that rather than say Husband and wife they say person A and person B – the make marriage simple two people not FATHER and MOTHER

Adoption Rights For Same-Sex Couples In Ohio

If you are in a same-sex marriage or relationship in Ohio and are considering adoption, let attorney Shelly L. Kennedy help you navigate the process.

Same-sex couples in Ohio who are interested in adopting a child have the same rights as heterosexual couples who adopt every day. Many members of the LGBTQ community are interested in adoption but have no idea what to expect or even whether they have a legal right to adopt in the first place.

If you want to adopt a child and are concerned about the process, you need an attorney who understands the process and has experience helping members of the LGBTQ community. At The Law Offices of Shelly L. Kennedy, Ltd., in Sandusky and Port Clinton, we focus on family law matters, including adoption for same-sex parents-to-be.

If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and need assistance with adoption in Ohio, contact The Law Offices of Shelly L. Kennedy, Ltd., by email or by calling 419-626-6300 today to schedule an initial consultation.

  1. The Meaning of Honoring Mother

  1. Act of Obedience

Ephesians 6:1-3 (KJV) 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2   Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That    it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

This is a command to be obeyed not a suggestion to be considered!

  1. Attitude of Respect

Some obey but not with the attitude of love and respect. The word for Honor is used        here for the first time:

            THE MEANING OF “HONOR”:

“The word translated “honor” is a Hebrew word with a root meaning of “weight” or “heaviness.” It is      the same word often translated “glory” in reference to the Lord. To glorify the Lord is to attach the utmost weight or significance to who He is and what He does. It means to assign Him the highest place because He is worthy of it. The opposite of glorifying God is to treat Him lightly, to shrug off Him and      His commands as insignificant. Coupled with the idea of weight is that of value, which is the root      meaning of the Greek word for honor. Gold and silver are heavy, valuable metals. We say of a valuable        man, “He’s worth his weight in gold.”

Applied to parents, to honor them is to have an attitude of respect for them that stems from the fact      that we greatly value them and the contribution they’ve made to our lives. To honor our parents is to         assign a high place of value to them. This attitude of respect and high esteem will result in loving     actions toward them. The motivation for doing this should be to please and glorify the Lord Jesus who    set the example of obedience to His earthly parents in order to please His Heavenly Father.”

We all need to understand God place with AUTHORITY  to rebell against                                            AUTHORITY ordained by HIM is to rebell against God

  1. Generates Pattern for Obedience

1 Samuel 15:22-23 (KJV) 22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in                               burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,

and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,

and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD,

he hath also rejected thee from being king.

  1. Guides you in the Protection of God

Abraham said Sarah was his sister God protected her

David spared the life of Saul God protected him

III. The Basics of Honoring Mother

Nehemiah 4:14 (KJV) 14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and                           to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember                               the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and                                   your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

  1. Consecration – live Holy

2 Timothy 1:5 (KJV) 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in                              thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am                          persuaded that in thee also.

  1. Care (Jesus cared for Mary from the Cross)

1 Timothy 5:7-8 (KJV) 7 And these things give in charge, that they may be                                          blameless. 8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own                                   house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
